We recently had the pleasure of taking two exceptional private tours in Italy—one from Civitavecchia to Orvieto and Bagnoregio, and another in Rome—and both experiences exceeded our expectations.

Our first tour to Orvieto and Bagnoregio was absolutely amazing. Matteo, our guide, was fantastic—friendly, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. He brought the rich history of these stunning hilltop towns to life, making each stop engaging and enjoyable. Highlights included the awe-inspiring cathedral and underground tunnels of Orvieto, and the magical atmosphere of Bagnoregio with its breathtaking views. We also had the opportunity to enjoy delicious local food and Gelato, which added the perfect touch to an already wonderful experience.

The following day, we enjoyed an incredible private tour of Rome with our guide, Vlad. He was knowledgeable, accommodating, and made every effort to ensure everything ran smoothly—especially during the busy Jubilee season. With timed tickets for St. Peter’s Basilica, Vlad expertly arranged our schedule around that key stop. At the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, The Spanish Steps, and The Pantheon, we made quick visits to step out, take photos, and soak in the atmosphere, all while enjoying Vlad’s insightful commentary.

We were also interested in visiting the Catacombs of St. Sebastiano and St. Callisto. Vlad handled all the logistics seamlessly and offered great tips to help us make the most of each stop. We truly appreciated how realistic he was about traffic and distances between sites, and his helpful suggestions kept the day relaxed yet efficient. Vlad also shared fascinating stories about lesser-known sites throughout Rome, giving us a deeper appreciation of the city beyond the typical landmarks. His professionalism and warm personality made the experience unforgettable.

We were taking a cruise and booked a custom package with numerous tours and transfers, mostly in Rome and Civitavecchia. We flew into FCO airport and ROBERTO picked us up. He gave us a quick 1-hr tour of Rome on our way to our hotel. He was terrific! He showed us ALOT in 1-hr and was able to bring us to a wonderful cafe and gelataria. The next day, we had a transfer to Civitavecchia cruise port. CLAUDIO brought us to the cruise terminal. He has special drop off access and he dropped us off right at the terminal. If your driver doesn’t have special access, you’ll get dropped off at the main security drop off which it is about a 2 mile walk to the specific terminal of your cruise. Make sure your transfer operator HAS special access. During the cruise, one stop was at Naples. We used DriverInRome. GUGLIELMO was our driver AND guide for the Amalfi Coast. We left immediately since it’s over an hr drive to the first town of Ravello. He grew up and lives in Naples and was a great guide. We stop at a scenic place overlooking Mt. Vesuvius and Pompeii. Once we arrived in Ravello, we were able to walk around and WE LOVE RAVELLO! Gorgeous! We stopped in Atrani, Amalfi, Positano and Sorrento. We had a great time! When our cruise was over our transfer driver was MARICA. She was nice but spoke very little English. The next day we had a full day tour of Rome with ALISANDRO. He grew up in Rome and knew EVERYTHING about Rome. He booked a private Vatican tour for us. INCREDIBLE! He showed us the Colosseum, the underground Catacombs and so much more! We used Driver in Rome for our recent Rome trip and Greek Isle cruise. We used them for transportation for six people three different times: FCO to our hotel in Rome, our hotel in Rome to Civitavecchia cruise port, and Civitavecchia cruise port back to FCO. These transports were spot on. The drivers were easy to find and identify. They were prompt and courteous. The vans they used were big and comfortable and plenty of room for six with our luggage. We also used Driver in Rome for excursions on three of our cruise ports. We used them for our Messina cruise port as Silvano took us to Taormina and Castelmola. Silvano went above and beyond to make sure we got to attend Catholic mass in Taormina. Silvano had bottled waters for us to drink and he was a wealth of knowledge regarding the area. Silvano was our very best guide on our entire trip (and we had many and most were good). We also used Driver in Rome for our Naples cruise port and our driver took us to Positano, Sorrento, some Amalfi Coast views, and Pompeii. The company arranged for us a personal tour guide of Pompeii. We also used Driver in Rome for our excursion in the Livorno port. Our driver was Francesca and she was amazing also. She took us to Pisa and to Florence. In Florence, the company arranged for us a personal guide for Florence. His name was Marco and he was also one of the very best guides we had on our trip. This company was spot on with their service. I cannot give a high enough review. Skip the Cruise ship excursions and hire "Driver in Rome" if possible for excursions.
