Visiting the Ashoro Museum of Paleontology was a fascinating experience for me and my family. As soon as we stepped inside, we were greeted by life-sized dinosaur skeletons that immediately captured our attention. The museum does an incredible job of making paleontology engaging and accessible, with exhibits that not only showcase fossils but also explain the history of life in Hokkaido.
One of my favorite parts was the detailed displays of prehistoric animals found in the region. The interactive sections, where kids can touch replica fossils and even try a mini “excavation,” made it especially fun for my daughter. The staff were friendly and helpful, taking time to answer our questions and share interesting stories about the discoveries.
The museum is compact yet very well-organized, so it’s easy to explore without feeling rushed. After walking through the exhibits, we also enjoyed the small outdoor area, which gives a glimpse of what the local environment might have looked like millions...
Read moreThis is a fun place to stop if you are just traveling through. It is easy to locate, has good parking, is in a very well designed and interesting building. The staff is very friendly and it is a good way to learn about some of the natural history specific to the area. It is much more unique than many of the other tourist stops. It seems like there are many special things for younger children to enjoy and it would be highly recommended for children to participate in some of the hands...

There are only fish and skeletons, horses, penguins, hippos and shells. definitely not a dinosaur. I looked for it... but it wasn't there, the museum is very aesthetic. only the collection is not large. there's room to make molds of shells or artifacts.. it's enough to make you want to visit...
