After a tediously long hike through volcanic gravel, in the hot sun, I was greeted with welcoming smiles, and was able to buy a cold slice of fresh watermelon while completing check-in, which was heavenly. Dinner was an amazing pork curry (I believe they also have vegetarian curry, as I saw another guest request it), with free refills! As a solo female hiker they took care to make sure I was assigned next to other women (though in the end my bunk mates never showed up), and there are female staff to assist you. It seems each "bunk" is separated into three space "rooms", with a curtain, like a capsule hotel. There may be bigger ones in the back for groups, though. If you are climbing up to see the sunrise, they prepare a breakfast for you to take up. If you choose to watch the sunrise at the hut, they wake you up at around 4am, and serve a Japanese-style breakfast with free rice refills after the sunrise. You can also leave your heavy bag there and borrow a smaller one so you don't have to drag all your things up to the summit.|I recommend bringing ear plugs as people will snore, arrive late/get up early, etc. Also, go out at night and look up at...
Read moreI caught a fever while climbing up the mountain and requested the owner if I can eat the food I bought from Waraji-kan inside the hut. The owner disrespectfully pushed me out saying, only the guests who stay there can have the food inside.
Not at all kind. Not recommended.
When I paid the owner 1000 yen per hour, the owner was more than happy to let me stay and sleep in the hut. It shows how greedy the owner is. The owner is the most heartless, unkind, and greedy person I have ever met. If the owner really were to protect those inside the hut, he wouldn't have taken the money and let me in after he refused me to eat the food I bought from him inside the hut. I have the read the response from the owner and conclude, he is a piece of absolute hypocrite.
The owner went to the extent to ask me if I have enough money to continue to stay in the hut. This is insane.
I stayed for 1 hour in the hut for those reading this.
It is common sense to rest for a while before descending or ascending for the matter, if you are tired. I don't think the owner knows what common sense is....
Read moreWe arrived very late (1am) and didn't know that they only accept guests until 8pm, so we waited for a long time outside their hut (until 4:30 am)...I felt the owners were sort of disappointed at first when they talked to us, but they let us in after hearing our reason why we were late (climbing Fuji via the gotemba route is no joke, you know :P). I asked the owner if we can sleep for a little bit since it was very very cold outside and we were very tired. We have reserved a month ahead prior to coming there and it included 2 meals. I asked if we can still get the breakfast but unfortunately, we were not counted since we arrived late. The owner then offered us a couple of snacks for us to eat going up to the summit. I really appreciate their hospitality and concern.
For the next guests, please be mindful of their business hours. They prepare for your arrival very well, so please come on time as much as possible (and contact them if there are...
