As the southernmost station on the main island of Japan, it has become a tourist attraction. As it is an unmanned station, there are no ticket gates and only a simple platform, but when it is time for the train to pass through, tourists gather here from nowhere. Although it is a simple station, Mt. Kaimon is beautifully visible from the platform, so taking a photo with the train makes for a priceless shot. I was expecting a level of quaintness but there were a disproportional amount of other tourists getting off here, with music that is unmatched with the scenery playing thru a speaker of the shop nearby sort of ruined...

It is the southern-most station in Japan and is still a functioning station. A bit touristy, but also thanks to the tourists for keeping this tiny little station alive. It's a bucket list item for sure, but I am glad I swung by on a perfect day...
