We visited this beautifully designed former guesthouse which now serves as a museum for visitors.
After it’s completion in 1887, it received its first guests which were members of the imperial family, while also catering exclusively to the rich and honoured guests. Hinjitsukan served as their temporarily lodge when they visited the area to pay their respects at Ise-jingu Shrine.
Past the impressive exterior, are equally stunning traditional Japanese architecture. The pièce de résistance would be its Grand Hall located on the 2nd floor, it’s ceiling covered with intricate designs and gold lead gilding. It also has a meticulously landscaped garden created by renowned gardeners.
