Ishikari Lighthouse — Local services in Ishikari

A historic and iconic red‑and‑white striped lighthouse standing at the estuary of Ishikari River. Built in 1892, it is Hokkaido’s oldest surviving lighthouse. It was originally made of wood and painted black and white, but was later rebuilt in iron and repainted in its now-famous red and white colors after it was featured in one of Japan’s early color films.

Visitors can walk along a raised boardwalk through the dunes of Hamanasu no Oka Park to get a closer view of the lighthouse. The area is especially beautiful in summer when coastal plants and roses are in bloom. The lighthouse itself is not open to the public, as it has been fully automated and unmanned since 1965, but it continues to function as an active navigational beacon visible from up to 13 nautical miles away.

The surrounding area offers great views of the Ishikari River mouth, sandy shores, and distant Hokkaido landscapes. There is free parking nearby, and the spot is peaceful, photogenic, and ideal for those who appreciate nature, quiet walks, or...

初めて訪ねる(2022.5)。 資料では１８９２年(明治２５年)の開設の初点灯とある。

今年で１３０年の歴史のある灯台であり、道内最古の灯台であり、石狩のシンボルとある☺️。

ヴィジターセンター２階にあるパネルには、以前のこの灯台は元々、白、黒の帯の灯台であったの👀‼️。

しかし１９５７年(昭和３２年)の松竹映画の「喜びも悲しみも幾年月」の撮影舞台となるのだ☺️。

大女優の高峯秀子主演で、当時の映画のカラー化のはしりの、作品との事で色彩効果を出す目的で、現在の赤白模様に塗り替えている👏。

2024年9月10日初訪問です。元々は木造六角形の白黒灯台、1982(M25)年開設初点灯から既に130余年、現存する北海道最古の灯台で1908(M41)年に鉄造円形白一色の外観への建て替えを経て、1957(S32)年に松竹映画「喜びも悲しみも幾歳月」の現地ロケ前に映画会社の要請で赤白に塗り替えられたそうです(それからは赤白、「お～いらみ～さきの～♫」)。開設時は石狩川河口先端にあったようですが、砂州が伸びて今や河口先端からは1kmほどの陸地となっているとのことです。高さ13.5mの小ぢんまりした灯台です。石狩灯台にいらした時は付近の「石狩～無辜の民」ブロンズ像(本...
