Constructed in 2000 to relieve traffic congestion on the nearby Mikuni Bridge. (Its name "Shinmikuni Bridge" means "New Mikuni Bridge".) This bridge is the most downstream crossing of Watarase River, which flows into Tone River a few kms south. So in principle this provides the closest connection for Tone-gawa (river) Cycling Road on the left (northern) bank. However, the access to this bridge from the Cycling Road on the top of the embankment is not so convenient on both sides.
