Kyusho Ferry (Kumamoto terminal) — Local services in Kumamoto

We use mapcode 415 356 240*61 driving to Kumamoto port. We use Kyusho ferry from Kumamoto to Shimabara. It faciliate and shorten the transition by a couple of hours as this ferry lasts for 45 minute to one hour.

When enter the Kumamoto port (see attached picture) Keep the left-most of the lane Turn left to the right-most lane for Kyusho ferry (The left-most lane is for Kumamoto ferry) Just ask staff. Park your car and walk to the main office to purchase the tickets. Go back to your car 15-30 minutes prior to departure. Staff will escort you to enter ferry.

There are two operating ferries in this route (Shimabara Kumamoto), Kyusho ferry and Kumamoto ferry. Kumamoto ferry : ship is bigger, faster and of course more expensive. Kyusho ferry : ship is smaller, slower and of course cheaper.

It depends on what do you expect from service. We expece liesure, no rush and enjoy feeding birds...

30 Dec, ferry service is on first come first serve basis, we managed to come 30 mins before departure and able to catch the ferry last couple spaces. Please do check ferry schedule, and make reservations if available (not for the new year period though)

自転車で利用して、乗船順番になったので駐車場から移動しましたがフェリーにかかる橋を自転車に乗っていいのか分からないのと、雨上がりで滑りやすかったので押して歩いていたら誘導係の方に早くしろとめっちゃ怒られた。聞かなかったこっちも悪いけど乗って移動していいなら受付か案内の人に言ってほしかった。（この非があるので★一つ分上げました。）あんまり書いて自転車利用禁止とかなると他の人が困るからあまり強くは書かないけれど、今後はまた怒られるのが怖いから数百円しか変わらないしオーシャンアロー使おうと思います。降りる時や船の乗員さん、自動車デッキの係員さんはとても親切で丁寧だっただけに残念です。歩いて乗船や車乗船では特に問題なく良い船かと。レインボーカモメは内装も新しくとっても綺麗。旧式の（？）特別室が...
