Many denim heads dream of visiting Kojima Jeans Street (which is actually two or three streets) however the experience may be disappointing. The price tag is high in most shops (don’t expect bargains here), many shops were closed when I went there, and just a few places to eat. They did a good effort trying to give it a character, with those jeans pants hanging, or denim-themed toilets, but still lacks the wow factor. Visiting all the shops in one day is an overwhelming task so here are the best shops IMO: Momotaro, Japan Blue, Graphzero, Big John and Kojima Genes. In these shops, you will find top quality denim. Jeans Street is in fact spread over two streets, a map is available at the station, and has around thirty shops selling denim. Read moreThis area is so cool. Old school Japanese town that has somewhat of an American feel to it. This town specializes in JEANS - had no idea there was a history of jeans in Japan, it is known as the birthplace of jeans in Japan. They are rebuilding this area to regain it's population, so many areas are a little run down, but that gives it a very nice atmosphere that you cannot experience in Tokyo. There are so many jean stores and even a place where they sell Indigo ice-cream (it tastes like vanilla). Souvenir stores of specialized products from here, antiques, and local sake stores....
