The Yukishio Museum is a hidden gem on Miyako Island, offering a unique look into how their famous "snow salt" is made. The tour is short but informative, and you can see the salt production process up close. The gift shop is full of original products—salt for cooking, skincare, and even ice cream! Don’t miss the Yukishio soft-serve—it’s creamy, slightly salty, and absolutely delicious. Friendly staff, a clean and relaxing atmosphere, and the chance to taste and buy rare local products make this a fun and worthwhile stop. Great for families, couples, or anyone curious about local...

Famous Okinawa salt maker. There is a tour of the place on most hours, we didn’t do it, probably ok if you have a Japanese speaker. Some of the salts and salt treatments are really cool. One of them heats your skin up when you add water. There are also a few good free tasters. Make sure to try the salt mineral water before the tasters so you can use them to get rid of the horrible taste! You know it’s good for you when it...

It’s a museum but has lots of items to buy that use the famous yukishio salt. But I think the main attraction is the soft serve ice cream. It’s fantastic. For 350 yen you can get a small cup of deliciousness.
