Landmark Onsen Cafe — Local services in Myoko

1 - outdoor onsen is the black mud onsen but if it could be hotter (I think its temp around 40-42 C only, which may be not enough for an outdoor onsen), then it will be even nicer.

2 - indoor onsen is a large pool which is hotter than the outside one (guess it's around 45 C).

3 - there are lockers and luggage storage at the front desk which cost 300 Yen

4 - there are free Yellow Shuttle Bus at the entrance which goes to the Ikenotaira Onsen Ski Resort (or you can actually walk from here to there around 5 min, it is just a straight road) and to the Visitor Center and Myoko Kogen Station. Around every 20-30 min per shuttle.

5 - The Japanese Restaurant there opens from 3pm in the Winter Season.

6 - There is a shop which sells icecreams, beverages and Myoko / Nagano localities.

7 - The local Suginosawa Bus Line have a stop at the entrance which will go to Suginohara Ski Resort (not to the slope/car park) but at the foot of its hill (i.e. in the Suginohara Village, at the base of the No. 1 Pair Life of Suginohara Ski Resort), and the local bus also go to the Myoko Kogen Station. Large Onsen with spacious inside onsen and a long row of showers, sauna and cold plunge. The outdoor onsen would need to be hotter for my taste, like the inside one. The cold plunge is great, could be bit colder. Changing room was clean with woven baskets, which I personally like a lot. Nice experience also peaceful view towards the mountain. 食事処が最悪。。。

施設としてはまあまぁだけど、全体的に受付の人とか活気がない。露天風呂は景色は見えない、ぬるい。。で今迄の温泉施設の中ではなんの魅力もない露天風呂だった。。

あとは、タイトル通り、食事処が最悪。 男性スタッフ５人位いて、テキパキ?動いてるのは、たどたどしい新人さんと責任者らしき大人しそうな人。後の３人は見た目の判断も良くないけど、柄の悪そうな雰囲気のスタッフで固まっておりありがとうございますでもなく、、そもそも駐車場に入ってきた時から、店員同士が固まって外をジロジロ見てた事にも違和感だったが。。

驚きはメニュー。。天丼とお蕎麦のセットを頼んだ、、メニューには手打ちそばと書いてある。 しばらく待たされた後、今さら?というタイミングで新人らしき店員さんが、、

店　お蕎麦なんですが、手打ちでよろしいですか? 私　ん？手打ちの他だと何ですか？ 店　手打ちか冷凍があります 私　。。（冷凍って言い方されちゃうとそりゃ手打ちの方がいいよね普通） じゃあ手打ちで。。(汗) 店　手打ちだとプラス１００円ですけどいいですか? 私　。。はい。大丈夫です。

いやいや、、長年生きてきてそんなシステムのソバ初めてでびっくり。。そんな事聞かれたことない。。そりゃ、冷凍もあるだろうし、手打ちもあるかもだけど、、

それを選ばせるなら、メニューに書いとけば？メニューには手打ちソバと書いてあって、じゃあ最初からプラス１００円の料金にしとけばいいのに?

何を売りにしてるんだろう。。? そして、極めつけは、出てきた手打ちそば。。涙 確かに手打ちだから仕方ない、、 手打ちは難しい。。が、金もらって作ってるんだよね、、職人じゃないにしても素人が作ったの?と言うような、５センチもないような細切れみたいな短い麺。。

どちらにしますか？の質問にも妻と顔を見合わせたが、あまりの短さにまた絶句。。 だって短すぎてすする事ができない、、苦笑
