An absolutely must-go destination for a gunpla fan. The store is relatively small, but it was beautifully arranged with a lot of the assembled products showcased next to the box, allowing you to see what the final gunpla product would be. The showcased products are also displayed in an awesome pose with each other and I can really see the love of the employee. Some stores just let the displayed gunpla falls down and never bother to correct the pose, but all the displayed gunplas here are well-posed. There are also a display of the standard RX-78 with varying level of work done to it, allowing you to see the difference when you are taking your gunpla to the next level by using Gundam marker, applying your own colour coating, and the ultimate weathered and battle damage effect. It is definitely a good place to feast your eyes on the displayed gunplas, even if you are not planning to buy one.

As with the other Gundam base, this store sells a limited 'The Gundam Base' edition gunplas that are not sold elsewhere (at least not legally) and the regular gunplas. Some action bases and add-on are sold here although there are not too much option here. Tools such as nipper, paint, Gundam marker, etc are also sold here.

At the time of my visit, there are no longer tax refunds that foreigner can take advantages of. They also have this rule where you can only buy maximum 1 for a type of Gunpla and if you are buying all different types, you are only allow to buy maximum 10. This rules are applied because apparently there are a lot of people that took advantage of the tax refund to resell the products. A staff was kind enough to explain this matter to me in English.

There’s a queueing. I think they do this as preventive action for scalpers. But why not just limit the model kit to one per customer. I wasn’t even allowed to enter because in each hour of the day, there’s already an assigned queue stub. They really love it when people wait. 名前と存在は知っていたものの、ようやく近くまで来る機会を得て入店。

ナムコのアミューズメントスペースの一角という位置付けなのが少し意外でした。東京のガンダムベースが独立専門店というイメージが強かったので。ここらへんがサテライトということなんでしょうか。売り場面積は大きいとは言いがたいです。

しかし入店するや、いきなり並んだガンダムベース限定キットの数々。それが店内奥までずーっと続きます。積まれた箱の上には透明なディスプレイボックスが設えてあり、素組みされたキットが置いてあります。これはわかりやすくて大変良いです。チタニウムフィニッシュやトランザムカラークリアなど特殊仕上のキットの美しいこと。これは食指が動きます。

いちおう一般販売キットも置いてあり、各シリーズの品揃えも一通りある感じでした。

個人的に印象的だったのがガンダムブームの立役者ファーストの旧キット、1/60量産型ゲルググや1/100ゴッグの素組みが置いてあったことです。プロポーションの再現度やパーツのヒケ、パーティングラインの荒さなど、最新キットと比べると40年の進歩というのを目の当たりにしました。「パテ盛りとヤスリがけ頑張ったよなぁ」というノスタルジーも感じてしまいました。

やはりガンプラはいいですね。色々なことを知って、身に付けて、今の自分があります。

追伸:ゲームコーナーの割引チケットのようなものをもらったので、いちおうのぞいてはみましたが、ナムコの看板を出しながら鉄拳シリーズが置いていないことに驚きと悲しみを感じました。格闘ゲームブームは去り、コロナ禍で運営も苦しいだろうとは思いますが、対面対戦台とまでは言わないので、一台くらいは置いていてほしかったです。ひさびさに風神拳とかカポエラのジンガを...
