A must visit to experience Kawara Soba

The story of soldiers during the 1877 Seinan War influenced the creation of Kawara Soba. Soldiers from the Satsuma Domain, while laying siege to Kumamoto Castle, improvised by cooking wild grass and meat on heated roof tiles due to a lack of proper cooking tools. This resourceful method inspired Shinichi Takase in 1961 to recreate the dish using cha soba and various toppings on a heated tile, leading to the modern...

A beautiful place inside the beautiful nature of Aso, where you can enjoy the traditional Japanese meal to its best! They have special baked soba on roof tiles called Kawara soba. Its is very very special soba, you can eat it with Soba soup, or can enjoy the crunch. The soba can be ordered with different toppings and as a meal set too. It is worth to go there and...
