The museum was separated into inside and outside part. Inside, you will go through a dark tunnel, and then reach at the exhibition space, which was used as a part of the factory. There will always be staffs helping you; sometimes they will give a brief introduction about the art pieces.

At the final exhibition room, there might be an Japanese old lady. I think she can introduce the history for tourist, however, it's a shame that I don't understand Japanese.

When you go outside, just follow the sign. You can see some remains everywhere. I think a good museum is the combination of art and history, and this museum is definitely...

Including this and other projects, I strongly recommend not purchasing tickets. Despite the high price, there wasn’t even a single restroom, and the interior layout was highly confusing. The exit signs were unclear, and the few staff members present simply stood around watching visitors struggle without offering any guidance. In addition, the installation artworks had no explanatory panels or descriptions. Honestly, just viewing the old factory ruins with the surrounding scenery from outside would have been more...

Pendant l’âge féodal (1185-1603), l’île fut utilisée comme source de granit pour construire de grands châteaux dont ceux d’Osaka et Okayama. En 1909, une raffinerie de cuivre ouvre ses portes et la population d’Inujima augmenta alors à plus de 1 000 habitants.

Avec la chute des prix du cuivre la raffinerie ferma définitivement dès 1919 et l’île eut du mal à subvenir aux besoins de ses habitants.

En 2008, un superbe projet viendra métamorphoser les ruines de cette éphémère raffinerie avec le Musée d’Art « Inujima Seirensho ». L’île devenant comme celles de Teshima et Naoshima, une des îles abritant la Triennale d’Art de Setouchi. Ici, l’art s’inspire de Yukio Mishima, un personnage controversé qui s’est opposé à la modernisation et aux mouvements l’éloignant de sa richesse culturelle propre et des traditions du Japon.

La raffinerie de cuivre abandonnée est symbolique de la manière dont la modernisation aux dépens de sa propre culture et du patrimoine laisse une société vide et sans identité. Cependant, le musée n’est absolument pas une coquille vide.

Chaque pièce et chaque couloir s’intègrent dans une unique grande œuvre qu’est le Seirensho…une expérience impressionnante et...
