Mountain with excellent views of Mt Fuji, with variety of walking routes to choose - can take a 30 min walk from a bus stop or a longer walk from Fujino (藤野)station or Sagamiko(相模湖) station on the JR Chuo line. If you are a confident walker and have a full day would also recommend the full walk between Jinba-san and Takao-san (approx 14 km) You can pick up hill walking maps (Japanese only) from Fujino station. Nicely signposted from Fujino station if your wifi suddenly sh!+$ the bed like mine did😅 beautiful scenery on the way up and it’s stunning at the top with beautiful views all around. There is a little restaurant at the top also selling beer/drinks/snacks. Make sure you have some cash, I forgot my wallet and only had Suica which they don’t take. Luckily on the way down at about 400m there was some little falls where I could drink some pure water. Took me about 3 hours to hit the top and about half that on the other side going down. Read moreSuper good hike, with clear markings. Not as popular as some of the nearby mountains, so the trails were quite isolated. We ate soba at the summit, which was delicious, and if there hadn't been a weird haze of pollen, we would have had a great view of the surrounding area.
Keep in mind before you go that this trail leads through a grove of cedar trees, so we had a thick coating of pollen by the end.
