Found this peaceful and somewhat hidden shrine during my work visit. Though it is not big but I think it's worth a visit since is peaceful (even on a hot summer day) unless if you are visiting during a festival season of course. Since it looks very different from the rest of the city and also neatly tucked away on a tiny little hill, it makes you feel slightly calmer was you entered the shrine. There is no official closing time, so you can go in and pray whenever...

御祭神は盞之男命・事代主命・稲生大神 創建は弘仁2年（812年）に物部匝瑳連足継が八雲の神詠を奉祀するために出雲の神を奉載し牛頭天王社を出雲国から勧請したと伝わります。 明治２年(1869年)に社殿を造営、御神詠「八雲立つ出雲八重垣妻籠みに八重垣作るその八重垣を」にちなみ八重垣神社と改称されたそうです。 毎年8月4日、5日に行われる八重垣神社祇園祭(...

8月4日、5日は匝瑳市八日市場八重垣神社祇園祭です。 祇園祭で小さな子供が近くに居ても煙草吸ってる奴、何人も目撃するけど、頭が悪い。 祇園祭での飲酒と路上喫煙は禁止にするべき！！ 祭に参加する人も、見に来る人も道路にごみを捨てるな。 6日は道路が汚くて困ったもんだ。
