Visited in early Dec 2023.
Looking at photos of the place, I was really looking forward to my visit. Getting a ticket and entry was easy. However, having visited quite a lot of onsen places, I thought the design of the onsen was quite poor - very narrow walkway for the changing areas and very limited indoor shower booths. There were only approx 8-10 showers available for probably more than 150 lockers. The indoor bath was warm/nice onsen temperature, but not too big. The outdoor area was huge BUT only one small tub had hot onsen, the other 2 (bigger size than the small hot one) was lukewarm - cold (not suitable for long bath) and no one was using it as it was late fall/going to winter. The outdoor area also had a very, imo huge garden that took all the space which they perhaps could’ve make it a bigger outdoor bath, or another bath. The small hot outdoor tub can fit 3 people max and with that, it’s 3 people and you cannot move much in the tub. After the bath, showering is pretty much a fight for a booth again. There’s also a “steam room” where the floor is hot and there are no built seats in the room, I saw people lying down flat on their towels on the floor, I tried it but wasn’t a fan of it. Upon entering the changing area, there was only 2-3 spots for mirror and drying your hair. I did not attempt to dry my hair and left.
The waiting/resting area is beautiful with tatami mats and was nice to sit around and relax. Perhaps all the good ratings were for the exterior design of the building…
I personally find it hard to understand how people would enjoy this experience/their baths here with what I...

Busshozan Onsen was the best looking onsen I searched up when I was in Takamatsu in June. I really needed a good wash since it was a hot day and had a long climb in the morning!
I took the train to Busshozan station and walked about 10 mins to the onsen here. It looks like a nice modern onsen which could be enjoyed by anyone.
After having a nice wash I enjoyed cooling down in the rest area along with a few bottles of extremely nice tasting milk, I'm not usually a big fan of milk too! But gotta get in that calcium am I right?! Thanks for the experience Busshozan Onsen.

A late afternoon storm approaches. As I enter the outdoor hot spring, the cold rain and wind pleasantly brush my face. The beautiful maple trees seem to be enjoying the natural sounds.
As the storm intensifies, the mountains unleash the grand winds and the songs of the trees they had kept hidden. At that moment, as these sensations brush against my face, the few people in the hot spring, aware that such a moment might only come once in a lifetime, silently savor it for as long as possible.
In this wonderful place, past grievances are forgotten, and only thoughts of future joys remain. Bushōzan, or "The Birth of Buddha" in Korean, can be felt in every moment—the cold rain, the refreshing wind, the scent of the hot spring, the light and sound of thunder, and the rustling of the trees in the storm.
I don’t think I’ll ever forget this day. I’ll come back when it snows...
