This was an amazing experience!!! Location : Tokorozawa, Mikajima Transportation: train + local bus ( around 1.5 hours from Tokyo city ) Clean: Tidy and clean Atmosphere: 💯 This is my solo trip to Tokyo this time. Did a bit of research before going to Totoro Forest. First thing should do : Register online before you go. Make a reservation!!! Two sections on everyday. Morning and afternoon. I prefer a relax one , not rushing in morning time . That’s the reason I picked the afternoon section. This was nice visiting this place. The staff there provide small game, help to check out every bit around the place. I spent almost 2 hours in the site. Hang around, take picture. It was really fun tho. Have a small souvenir corner. Three types of maps selling there, for simple leisure walk / Forest walk.

There is a large Totoro statue in one of the tatami rooms downstairs as well as Totoro paraphernalia in two of the three buildings. The "kura" storehouse also has diorama from the movie. It is essentially free in, but as the place is run by volunteers and sustained by contributions, they welcome donations. No parking, but there is a reasonably priced car park nearby for about ten cars.

Childhood dream come true place! Highly recommended. The place is located in a nice remote area. I will suggest you to walk around the whole neighborhood. You don’t need to buy a ticket to visit. Inside you will see a big Totoro, with his friends. The staffs are friendly and souvenirs are affordable. Best part is, the money will be donated to help the local community. It is amazing to finally seen to Totoro’s...
