The most hidden hot spring in Totsukawa Onsenkyo Kamiyu Onsen is a hot spring that is known for its natural beauty. It was damaged in a flood in 2011, but was restored in 2017 thanks to the efforts of local people. In the open-air bath built on the riverbank, you can enjoy the smooth water with floating mineral deposits. Guests staying at Kamiyu Onsen Kamiyuso (→P101), which is about a 5-minute walk away, can use it free of charge.

山間部の奥地で川遊びをしているような露天風呂。湯船に入ったとたんぬるっとした感覚に見舞われ、湯上がりは肌がスベスベになっている。 アルカリ性、ナトリウムー炭酸水素塩泉の効果？と思われる、私にとっては秘湯の日帰り入浴場所。 上湯川の側に浴槽を設置した日帰り入浴施設。以前の出谷温泉のすぐ隣に設けられ、川まで車で降りれるようになった。駐車台数はさほど停められず、すぐ上にある公衆トイレ脇の駐車場所も利用できる。 源泉が76～85度と高く、ある程度冷ましてから浴槽に注がれる掛け流し温泉。温泉は鉱泉系の臭いがするナトリウム炭酸水素塩泉で、入浴すれば直ぐにヌルヌルした感触に見舞われる。 男湯は脱衣かごを棚におく場所とコンクリート打ちっぱなしの露天浴槽が一つ。浴槽から上湯川に降りて、川にも入れるように梯子が置いてあった。 洗い場らしき場所にはボディーソープとシャンプー、リンスが置いてあるだけで給湯蛇口もシャワーも無かったので、身体を洗う場合は浴槽のお湯を桶に汲んで洗い流す。 入浴料は大人１名500円で受付横には湯上がり休憩場所が設けられていた。 大雨の被害で幾度か営業中止にもなっているが、山奥の大自然に囲まれ、上湯川のせせらぎを聞きながら、素朴な昔ながらの露天風呂情緒を堪能できた。

奈良県吉野郡十津川村と和歌山県田辺市龍神を結ぶ県道735号線の途中にあります。十津川側からですと約6kmの道のりですが道幅が狭くブラインドカーブもあり速度控えめに注意が必要です。のぼりや大きな看板で見逃す事はないと思います。駐車場へは案内に従い急坂を下りていきます。駐車台数は6台くらい。入浴料金500円を受付で支払うか受付箱に投入します。男湯は露天風呂で女湯は一段上がった所にあります。河原にあった露天風呂は紀伊半島大水害で流されて甚大な被害を受けましたが河原よりかさ上げして大きな露天風呂がありました。湯船には熱々の源泉が投入されているので近づくと非常に熱いです。広い露天風呂なので好みの湯温の場所を選ぶ事が出来ます。離れた場所で43℃ほどでした。しっかりつるつる感があり微硫黄臭がします。浴槽内には白い湯の華が舞っています。日差しで湯がキラキラ輝いていました。 鮮度も抜群でオーバーフローは川へ垂れ流しです。少し熱くなってきたら浴槽の淵に腰掛けて谷を渡る風でクールダウンしてまた浸かるを繰り返しました。河原に下りるハシゴがありまして、夏場は川でクールダウンも気持ち良さそうです。

アクセスは離合困難な狭道なうえ現在735号(龍神十津川線)は下湯バス停付近にて工事の為交通規制敷かれているので最悪レベルと言えるが源泉かけ流しで広い露天風呂で泉質もそこそこ良く安価格なうえ野趣溢れる景観は最高のロケーションと言えよう！川のせせらぎ、蛙の鳴き声、野鳥や虫の声等自然感は関西屈指の最強レベルw数年前の災害時に湯船が全てコンクリート製になってしまったのは残念ではあるがそれでも尚景観は良い！ ※但しこれら評価は男湯に対してだけであり女湯は男湯の半分の広さの湯船しかなく半露天なうえ壁が塞がれ一部だけが外見える仕様なので残念ながら女性が行っても良くない感有！ ※泉質はそこそこ良く若干硫黄臭あるものの露天風呂なのでそれ程気にならないレベルで少しぬるとろ系で肌スベスベ感も有！洗い場とシャワーはひとつしかないので混雑時は譲り合い大事！広い湯船故に湯注ぎ口付近は湯温高く離れる程ぬる湯です ※シャンプーボディソープ有、トイレ有、自販機有、無料駐車場有(二輪は受付先の水槽前が駐車スペース)脱衣場には鍵付きロッカー無いので貴重品の扱いには注意！ ※交通規制等については画像参照の事、10時は10分間しか通行出来ない等があるので行かれる予定の方はくれぐれも注意！ ※受付にてビール、ノンアル、ラム...
