嬬恋から鹿沢温泉経由で峠を登ったところにある高原で、周辺では一番高度が高く、酷暑の中でも涼しく過ごせます。斜面の一部は夏は牧場に、冬はスキー場になっています。無料の駐車場の周りにホテルが1軒と数軒の店があり、店は冬はロッジとして、夏はソフトクリーム屋として営業しています。ここを拠点に湿原や、三方ヶ峰等の山に上がることもできます。
