Ishikawa-dake is a demanding but satisfying hike with beautiful nature, and an amazing view awaiting you when you reach the top. There are three hiking paths, A, B, and C. A is a quick hike strait to the Peak of the mountain, B extends the hike out a little further to get a better view of the nature surrounding Ishikawa-Dake. The C course is by far the longest and most exhausting of the three courses but worth every lost breath. If hiking with small kids make sure that everyone has on shoes with GOOD treading, preferably hiking boots. There is a portion where you are hiking in a creek bed and things can get slippery in a new York minute so hold onto your little ones hands. I broke off and headed down the gravel path and hiked the streets, which took longer than planned. Don't do that. But do this hike! Some parts will be harder for little ones without longer strides, but...
Read moreThere are three courses to hike, each taking considerable different timing to complete. Course A will easily take about an hour to reach the summit and back to the foot. My three year-old completed course A without having to be carried, hence, it is manageable even with kids. However, certain places can be tricky and muddy after a downpour. It's best to go when it does not rain the day before. At the foot of the hill, there's an Adventure Course, a very exciting trail for kids and adults with hanging ropes and bridges. Course A is shady and the best time is in...
