The drive: A short 1 hour drive from Kadena, this gem is close to the salt factory at Kafu Banta cliffs. The drive takes you through scenic Miyagi jima with views of the sea, salt plants and sugar cane fields. There is a gate saying restricted but locales and visitors alike ignore this for the forbidden fruits just a short walk past.
The beach: The beach is vast with an array of shells throughout. Surrounded in the back with light jungle the sides are flanked with easily accessible cliffs and rock formations that have many hermit crabs and other interesting terrestrial life.
The sea: One of my favorite spots for snorkeling. The calm sea grass beds are 1m from shore at low tide. Small valleys and dead coral formation give the area places for many fish species to hide. We did not see any toilets, or shower facilities nearby. We rinsed off with bottled water that we...
Read moreThis beach is gorgeous and was not crowded at all. There was one couple there to swim and all the other cars parked were there to surf. Don’t be fooled by the map with the road that goes all the way to the beach. There is a locked gate at the top that you have to walk around and then down the hill for a good ways. If you’re coming here i would recommend not bringing too much stuff to carry. Parking is limited to the side of the road. There were two porta johns at the beach however i didn’t look inside them to see the last time they...
