Overall: ||Great peaceful accommodation 10 minutes away from Anbo. You will definitely need your own vehicle to get here. Initially I was worried that it was a bit far away from the heart of the city but I enjoyed the trips back and forth and seeing the island at different times of day. Also we mainly did day trips that required us to drive between 30mins-60mins anyway. ||||Staff:||The owners were extremely lovely and tried to be as helpful as possible despite the language barrier (they knew limited English and we knew about 3 Japanese phrases). We received complimentary desserts every day during our stay, made using the produce that the owners grew themselves. I thought this was a lovely touch and I'm a sucker for good free food :)||||Amenities:||The beds were extremely comfortable. Shampoo, body wash, hair dryer, hair straightener, towels, pretty much everything was provided. There was a decent kitchen as well with some basic cooking ingredients, which proved to be very handy as we bought some mighty fine wagyu steaks from the local supermarket one night and it was one of the cheapest and yummiest meals we had during our trip. There was no microwave though mind you. ||Only issues we had was with the hot water and the wifi. The hot water seemed to cut out every few minutes so showers were a bit interesting. The wifi is also very inconsistent but the owners did state this in their welcome pack. Overall i didn't mind being cut off from the rest of the world for a couple of days :)||||Despite the minor issues, would definitely come...

Read moreMy wife and I stayed here for 4 nights while visiting Yakushima at the end of September staying in a Skydeck & Terrace bath room. In short we had an absolutely amazing and lovely time.||The cottage itself is cute, well kept and clean. The hosts are very friendly and helpful, during our stay they helped book hiking bento’s for us (delicious!), recommend a local restaurant for dinner, as well as phone book a taxi (we are English speakers with only limited Japanese) for us one evening so we could visit a Izakaya in nearby Anbo for some drinks!||We hiked most days, but loved coming back each night to the relaxing hot steel bath, as well as yummy complimentary desserts from the hosts! The small kitchen was plenty for us to be able to cook our own meals purchased from the Supermarket nearby (10 minute drive), yum! And the skydeck is magnificent to view the stars, we were lucky enough to have a clear night during our stay, beautiful!||As with most of Yakushima you will need a car to get here and around the island, we were able to access all our chosen hiking trail-heads with approx. 45minutes from this accomodation which was super convenient, another great plus.||I could go on and on about this location, it really was perfect for us (I haven’t even mentioned the nearby ice-cream shop, restaurants and beach onsens!).|I really hope we can come back someday and...
