Yakushima Gelato Sora-Umi — Restaurant in Yakushima

While the texture of the gelato wasn't as dense and as "sticky" as most Italian gelato, the taste was just wondeful!! We had Ocean salt, Purple sweet potato, Lemon and cedar, and I forgot the last one. I liked all the flavours but I particularly liked the purple sweet potato. It tasted very natural and just the right amount of sweetness. I can guess they don't use much or no flavorings (although i cannot be sure)

I was amazed to find a gelato store on an island as remote as Yakushima. Their tankan orange and guava gelato was absolutely delicious, I just had to return again the next day to get the same thing. You can also get your gelato in an edible rice cup as well.

The store is quite spacious and modern looking, and prices were very reasonable.
