It would be great on a quiet day, but we went on a public holiday and paid 500 for the inside bath but it the was no space in the small bath (already 10 guys elbow to elbow) so I had to give up. There area also outdoor baths but we were warned it was not very warm and we thought they were telling us it was closed, but it wasn't. Just a communication problem in Japanese.

For 2500 you can have a private bath, which might be the way to go on busy days.

They try to get ¥200 more to walk to the crater, but they doesn't...

The outdoor hotspring is super nice. The temperature is not hot and just nice. The view is natural with occasionally some yellow and red maple tree leaves falling into the pool. The outdoor pool is cost 600yen and i think it is reasonable. I think the spring water is quite acidic as my skin is a bit dried after the bath. I recommend to bring a lotion to applied to prevent the driedness. Moreover, u need to bring ur own towel too otherwise u could rent one from...
