I liked the experience here. You feel the effect of being close to Mt. Kenya forest with all the greenery and cool weather. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. You get a guide after paying the entrance fee of Ksh. 1,000 per person for locals. What I liked most is how close you can get to animals and interact them. Note that they are in the process of rewilding the Mountain Bongo, so they no longer keep them in cages. I was lucky to see one in the paddocks but it was undergoing treatment and will be released eventually. Overall, a great experience.

This is place is more a zoo than a conservancy place! It is very sad to see animals in small enclosures knowing they will never be free (fact affirmed by the staff)… is it worth torturing animals at the expense of so-called education? Are kids playing with the animals and parents taking pictures of them understanding the meaning of all this or it’s just cheap fun for tourists? I personally do not recommend it as I don’t see how my ticket cost and tips could help the wildlife rather than encourage this practice … I hope I am wrong

Our visit to the Mount Kenya Animal Orphanage was nothing short of magical! Our guide (Eunice), was informative, engaging and full of passion for wildlife conservation. The orphanage is well-maintained, and the staff's dedication to the animals is truly inspiring. It’s a great place to learn, connect with nature, and support an important cause. Highly recommended for families, wildlife lovers and anyone visiting Nanyuki or exploring Mount Kenya!
