818 Durians — Local services in George Town

For the price and acclaimed winner of multiple durian awards, the durians way off the mark in terms of taste and texture. Would I visit this place again - no. I have no problem paying 80/kg for the supposedly unicorn black thorn, which happened to be one of our must-do on this trip to Penang, but it was well below our expectations. I found it in KL at RM48/kg and the quality of the fruit was so much better. I absolutely get it. BEWARE, you could be SCAMMED in 818 durian. Have to bargain the price & get the durian weighted correctly before the owner open it.

I made the grave mistake of not asking, and just trust the very friendly owners, who kept putting opened delicious durian on our table. In the end I was charged RM 1071 for 7 small durians, which total weight should be around 10kg. I regretted my mistake to trust the owner & I wish no one else will ever get lulled by their friendliness.

Very friendly shop owner and nice durians. Also, a special experience made me feel they are really nice people. We were having a road trip in Malaysia, and had two blown tires not far from their stall. We could not go on and were just hours away from a flight to catch.
