Le Morne climb is a MUST DO in Mauritius, its worth the early start and the effort. The views are phenomenal to see and , yes photos help you understand, but literally do it no justice. Beautiful!! Few tips. Book through and use a trusted guide. Wear APPROPRIATE clothing and shoes.... this is not for flat shoes or light training shoes but, worse, this is not a glamour climb, in your clothing labels, dripping in bling to get a shot for the gram!. We saw groups of young women (and men) walking up in clothes that you'd see on a night out... but unsurprisingly saw them again an hour later when they couldn't get to the higher points. Listen to your guide and where and when to walk during the climb. It's not easy but it's not an expert climb, more intermediate level. Last tip, go on a early climb. We started at 6.15 and when coming down, passing the gram-ers , it was already getting hot and around 27 degrees. I would have hated to be coming down around early lunchtime, like they should have been, in 30 degrees sunshine . Most of...

Then it's up to you to freeclimb to get to the peak of the mountain. I never managed to reach the top due to the rainy weather which made it extremely slippery and unsafe. Nevertheless knowing people who managed to reach the very top , they say that the view and the top is 10 times better then the view before the fencings. If you are visiting Mauritius this is an experience you don't want to miss out on. Plus you don't need to pay a guide or tourist agency , it can be done all...
Read moreCrazy views at the very top on the mountain (cross), facing the underwater waterfall and mountain ranges facing the north. Recommended! Even if you cannot climb till the very top or have vertigo, you can still hike halfway till the gate. Just go for the experience...views are still amazing half way! Be careful if you going till the cross as it can get quite tricky and dangerous if you don't know where to step. Get a guide if unsure. And bring water, snack bars and cramp muscle spray or similar. You dont want muscle fatigue that may prevent you to climb back down. You can easily spend 3hours + depending...
