A very nice place! One of the few places on earth where you can find stromatolites, which are some of the oldest living organisms on earth. Sac-Ha means « white water » in Mayan language but it is also called « 7 Turquoises Waters » is just pristine clear and shallow.

We did some dry camping there with access to washrooms and showers but disgusting…we ended up using our motorhome… Not cheap to bathe in these amazing waters, sleep there and have access to palapa. 1500 MXN for two nights camping in front of this nice is place is…priceless!

You can rent kayaks and go on te river nearby, quite nice.

It was not too crowded despite that we stayed there a Friday and Saturday. Many locals were there which is a good sign!

A beautiful experience without hoards...

Even after multiple rounds of heavy rains these past few days, this part of the lake retained its clear waters. I could even see little translucent fish swimming alongside me.

Everywhere else we went in Bacalar, the lake looked like a brownish green color - locals voiced concerns that the “seven colors” might never return due to many factors including growing tourism (and in effect, declining stromatolites and snails which eat organic matter) as well as public sewage issues.... It seems, at least here (and nearby at Los Rapidos), that’s...
