Citadela je bila sagrađena na samoj morskoj obali tako da je svojim južnim zidovima bila u moru. Sa tvrđavom ”Forte mare” dobija glavni odbrambeni karakter kao tvrđava pri moru. U njenom sastavu je i kameni most iznad današnjeg samog šetališta. Nakon probijanja železničke pruge početkom prošlog veka, dugo je bila ugrožena i pretila padom. Nakon zemljotresa 1979. srušila se u more i nikada nije obnovljena.

Fort Citadela is place located in Igalo it is old stone place where you can see how did time passed and took over this beautiful location, it is breathtaking view and place where you can go alono or with someone to enjoy the beautiful colors and beautiful blue ocean, during the night starts are amazing and if you need peace or romantic place I would definitely recommend this hidden location where you can...

Цитадель (Macel - Mezzaluna) была построена на самом побережье так, что южные стены находились в море. В 1702 году Петер Анджело Манго (Пьетро Анжело Манго) соединил верхнюю часть Нижнего города прочной стеной с Цитаделью. Таким образом, весь город оказался окружен толстой стеной, как следует из надписи, найденной вблизи монастыря капуцинов (сегодня - Св. Леопольда). Цитадель с крепостью Форте-Маре является морским оборонительным сооружением, а башня со стенами была построена при разных нашествиях. В ее основании следует искать начало Херцег-Нови. В ее состав входит каменный мост над сегодняшней набережной. С помощью существующего проекта эта крепость может быть восстановлена до исходного состояния, так как фрагменты разрушенных стен вокруг фундамента сохранились.
