We visited Morocco in February 2020 and it was a fantastic experience! Julio kindly arranged the entire trip for us and agreed with Aziz to drive us from Fez to Marrakech via Megouza dessert with a two day stop in Belle Etoille Todra Gorges.
In these two days, Julio and Emily showed us around. Firstly, we went for a session of sport climbing, where Julio gave us a lot of useful advice on how to become better climbers. We climbed until we were exhausted! Back in Belle Etoille, the host yet another Aziz, made us gigantic portions of very delicious food.
The following day, we went on a more old school montaneering adventure "Via Cordata". It was super fun! The scenery was breath taking and the route was challenging enough to make it exciting but not too difficult to become disheartened.
Julio and Emily are both very passionate about climbing and an inspiration to learn from.
We look forward to...
Read moreJulio is the best! Really great guy who knows the gorges like the back of his hand and has pretty much set up all the climbing routes himself. We came to Todra for three days and spend two days climbing with Julio. Not only did he give very useful technical climbing advice which helped us to progress but he is also very sociable and generous with his time: on our rest day he drew us a map for us to explore the surrounding valleys and he also introduced us to a guide who we met in Merzouga for a really authentic sand dune tour. We left feeling that we had really bonded and shared an authentic experience. Julio is very invested with the local life in the Todra gorges and you can tell that he really cares about the community and wants to help the locals to develop tourism but in a sustainable and socially responsible way. If you want a climbing guide in Todra: look no further than...
Read moreMorocco’s Todra Gorge in the High Atlas range has some 500+ premier super sticky limestone climbs that Julio has set up most of the climbs. He has all the climbs’s nuances and their grades memorized. Our Todra Gorge climbing experience would have been a south -180° without him! So we are super grateful for his and Emily’s help, lessons, and hospitality.
I reached out to Julio asking for a simple recommendation on lodging since his place wasn’t available at the time. It had turned into a recommendation for the most comfortable and delicious stay, advice and help with our climbing endeavors, and valuable climbing tips and tricks from such an amazing climbing pro!
Can not recommend him enough. Hope he comes to visit the states for my friend and I to show...
