My nomadic travels go on. After having hiked public track on my own, locals from @HappyNomade restaurant (that's a must go place in Todra - they have the nicest variety of food in the whole Morocco I visited) tell me that here is another mountain track to hike, also with a nomad's camp up there and spring water. No need to say it twice - tomorrow I will do it. But Mahdi says it's not suggested to go alone - the hike is difficult and you can get lost up there. So - they offered to accompany me. Me and 3 locals that are grown up in these mountains. It was said correctly - I couldn't even find any route in any application over here, the track is much more difficult than the easy public one, and much more dangerous, steep and basically often there is no track at all - you need to know the direction to go. It is very remote way, none luckily walks down there. But going down sometimes was very tricky for me. They say I am the first European to do this hike up this mountains, which is in a group of High Atlas. It is higher and more difficult than the main, popular one. So - only for experienced hikers. After the hike guys took a quick bath...
Read moreWe were in the area for a few days and kept going back for lunch and/or dinner it was so lovely and delicious - we got to eat delicious Berber dishes including goat tagine, mountain chicken, kefta moussaka, and the tomato salads and olives to start with are so delicious. We also had tea with sage leaves, so yummy and interesting! By day 2, we were family, by day 3, we were learning to make Moroccan pancakes (Msemmen, my new favorite, with the local honey), Chebakia cookies and chicken Rfissa with Fatima and her sweet children. Chebakia cookies are traditionally eaten with Harira soup to break fast during Ramadan. PS. If you’re looking for a guide, the owner, Mahdi was awesome for both long mountain hikes and walks through the gardens, where it’s so easy...

Had the good fortune to be invited before the official opening to have a vegetarian lunch. The biz card aptly reads "Berber Soulfood". The salad was delicious and fresh. The eggplant moussaka just perfectly seasoned and cooked. Very happy to have stopped by.
