The good: All people are friendly and warm. Good place to experiance silence and un uplifting spirit in meditation. The general atmosphere is very good. The quality of the food: 7 of 10 I was in the guesthouse at the bottem of the ashram. Matras quality : 8 of 10, good to sleep on. Bathroom, very good. Good and plenty of hot water in the shower. However the system is badly designed. If you are the first in the morning to take a shower, it may take 5 to 10 min. before the warm water reaches the shower. Quality off bathroom : 8 of 10 Overall cleanliness of the room: 9 of 10 Maintanance of room : 8 of 10
The not so good. I did the Mystic Rose meditation group. The leader of the group was at times, so much involved with the laughing and being at the centre of it all, that he lost his position as caretaker and witnissing observer. I had to point out to him, that there were films being made on mobile devices, while this is stictly prohibited during group sessions. Very private moments may be appaering on the internet, without people wanting that.
Also during meditation sessions in the big hall, people were sometimes filming and making selfies with others. It is supposed to be prohibited. Master Osho would say: What are those stupid people doing here in the meditation hall, they should come here for meditation, not for gloryfying their ego’s…
The maintanance of the infrastucture, and the visual aspect of the ashram is low, there is so much that needs to be done, to be repaired: 4 of 10
Western people need to pay much more for staying and groups, than Nepalese or Indians. They think westerners are all miljonairs, and can be used as a cash-cow. But they have to pay for a flight ticket, which from Europe cost around € 1150 for a return flight. A visa cost € 150. You have to pay 100NLR. a day if you want wi-fi. In every hotel this is free of charge.
The really bad The music in the meditation hall is sometimes really deafening. The ear is a very sensitive organ. It should be treated with care, to avoid hearing loss. Some residents complained to me about this. But the one in charge off the soundsystem, seems to think, the louder the better. I would recommand earplugs to protect your hearing organ.
The pollution around the perimeters of the ashram is really bad. Everwhere around the ashram plastic, aluminium, building materials, and other junk is thrown into the environment. It is a Nepalese habit...
The earth is where we come from, we should respect, and protect it. Not pollute it. That is why my overall rating is 1 out of 5. Despite all the positive things that happen here.
All living beings are children of the earth If you pollute the Earth, with plastic and junk, then your love of Life, meditation and "spirituality" is just a meaningless, sick joke.
Doing Arati, offering flowers and incense, and bowing before dead statues has no value, if you destroy Life itself!
Then You did not get Osho's message yet: LEAVE THIS EARTH A LITTLE MORE BEAUTIFULL BEHIND, THAN WHEN...

Nestled in the lush Nagarjuna hills, just a short drive from the chaos of Kathmandu, Osho Tapoban is a sanctuary of peace, meditation, and profound spiritual energy. From the moment I arrived, I felt the weight of the outside world lift, replaced by a serene vibration that permeates every corner of this sacred space.
The Setting: A Forest of Spiritual Practice The name Tapoban—meaning "forest of spiritual practice" in Sanskrit—perfectly captures the essence of this retreat. Surrounded by ancient trees, the ashram sits on land once graced by the Buddhist master Nagarjuna, whose enlightened presence still lingers . The air is fresh, the views breathtaking, and the energy palpable—a true Buddhafield where transformation feels effortless.
The Meditations: Dynamic, Deep, and Liberating Osho Tapoban offers a rich variety of active and passive meditations, each designed to dissolve mental blocks and awaken inner stillness. The Kundalini Meditation—with its shaking, dancing, and silent surrender—was a revelation, releasing deep-seated tensions I didn’t even know I carried . The Dynamic Meditation, practiced at sunrise, was electrifying, blending catharsis with blissful silence. Evening White Robe Celebrations, where everyone dances in flowing white garments under the stars, felt like a divine communion .
The Community: Warmth Without Dogma Unlike rigid spiritual centers, Tapoban radiates inclusivity. The Nepalese staff and international seekers alike exude kindness, laughter, and a shared commitment to growth. Whether in the meditation hall, the vegetarian dining area (where delicious, mindful meals are served), or the tranquil Osho Samadhi shrine, I felt welcomed without pressure to conform .
The Teachings: Wisdom for Modern Seekers Swami Anand Arun, the disciple who founded Tapoban, embodies Osho’s philosophy of joyful awareness. His talks—woven with humor, insight, and timeless wisdom—bridged the mystical and the practical. One quote that stayed with me: "Possess things, but don’t be possessed by them"—a reminder that spirituality isn’t about renunciation but freedom in engagement .
Final Thoughts: A Life-Changing Retreat Leaving Tapoban, I carried home more than memories—a renewed sense of clarity, joy, and connection. Whether you’re a seasoned meditator or a curious beginner, this retreat offers a rare blend of structure and spontaneity, silence and celebration. It’s no wonder luminaries like Manisha Koirala and former Nepalese prime ministers have praised its magic .
Verdict: 5/5 stars. Osho Tapoban isn’t just a retreat; it’s a living, breathing invitation to awaken. I’ll...
