I recently had an overall positive experience here but there were a few incidents that left me with mixed feelings. While I appreciate the efforts of most of the staff, I encountered a situation that compelled me to give a three-star rating.
The incident occurred when my hungry toddler was denied a simple banana from the dining area by an employee named "Ana Maria." Despite my child's obvious need and the availability of the fruit, Ana Maria declined, citing that the area would be opening in "10 minutes." This interaction left me disheartened and questioning the level of compassion and understanding displayed.
Fortunately, another staff member intervened, recognizing the urgency of the situation. He went above and beyond by offering a banana from his own lunch, saving the day for my child. This act of kindness and thoughtfulness showed that there are individuals within the establishment who genuinely care about their patrons.
While I acknowledge the positive intervention, the initial denial of a basic necessity for a hungry child remains a significant concern. The inhumane treatment displayed by Ana Maria was distressing and cast a shadow over my overall experience. It is disheartening when the actions of a single staff member can tarnish the reputation of an otherwise well-intentioned establishment.
In light of these contrasting experiences, I have decided to assign a three-star rating. The kindness shown by the second staff member is commendable and exemplifies the level of service I expect. However, the initial incident and the impact it had on my perception of the establishment prevent me from giving a higher rating.
I hope that the management takes this feedback seriously, recognizing the importance of consistent and compassionate service. Addressing such incidents can help create an environment where every individual feels valued and respected, ensuring that future patrons have a more positive and fulfilling experience.
Overall, my experience here was a mixture of highs and lows. While I am appreciative of the kind-hearted staff member who went above and beyond to assist us, the initial encounter left a lasting impression. It is my sincere hope that this review serves as constructive feedback and encourages improvement in customer service, particularly in moments when compassion and understanding are...
Read moreAlways a fun/relaxing time here. A lot is included for the price. This was my second time going here. Of course, the alcoholic drinks aren’t strong at all. You can drink ten and still not be drunk lol. You taste the alcohol but still don’t get drunk. Maybe because the liquor is on tap. Taste good though. The food was good. Not as many options as the first time I went back in 2014. Also breakfast was included back then. Guess due to covid, they had to cut back. Snack bar serves fries, hot dogs and burgers. Soft drinks, water, beer, coffee and tea are also available. Just about everything is included beside snuba, temporary tattoo, massages and hair braiding. A gift shop is available to purchase items. Lockers are also available for $5. Well technically you pay $15 up front ($10 is the deposit which you get back at the end of your visit). Bathrooms were cleaned throughout the day which was a plus. The flamingos and water slides are nice new attractions. Well new to me at least because they weren’t there back when I came in 2014. Make sure you hold your nose going down the slide lol. The drop is steep but it was fun. The private beach have A LOT of rocks at the bottom. I would say water shoes are a must when you go in. It’s a good idea to have them on period just to walk around in. Didn’t do the banana boat and snorkeling this time but both was fun when I did them on my previous visit. Overall, you can’t go wrong with Palm Island. Good idea to book ahead of your trip because I think due to covid, only a certain amount of people are allowed per day. So check out the days and book prior to your trip. Oh and it’s actually a separate island. Shuttle boats go back and forth carry visitors to and from the island. The ride is about two minutes each way if not less. Pick up service is also an option if you’re staying at a hotel. You can make arrangements with the company when you book the trip. It’s included for no extra cost. I stayed with family close by so it was a five minute drive for us. Going to a pick up location would have...
Read moreFamily of (5) with kids ages ranging from 10, 12 and 14. We all enjoyed the island. We were a little hesitant after reading all the mixed reviews, but we are all glad we took a chance and went. The food is ... OK ... but all was good. The grill next to the beaches served hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken fingers and fries which were exactly that... The buffet lunch where breakfast is served has a few more healthier options like salad, bbq chicken, fruits, etc. This food was good enough for us. The drinks were good... we were not there to get hammered. The snorkeling was fun and we saw a ton of fish which the kids enjoyed. The kids and I even enjoyed a little play time at the small water park. The banana ride was fun... not super exciting, but fun. The kids enjoyed it... Definitely wear water shoes into the water at the beach due to the rocky terrain which is what we did. The kids like the swimming area because they were able to wear their goggles to explore seeing more fish. We did the full day and would do it again. We had a great time together enjoying the day. A few notes: the island was not busy, so it was easy to get food, snorkeling, banana ride, etc without waiting in line. The shuttle bus will pick you up at your hotel. We were at the Holiday Inn, which meant we rode the bus to most of the other hotels to pick up others. The ride was sort of long, but not unreasonable.
If you are looking for an experience of a life time with high end food, this is not your place. If you are looking for a place to chill and have some fun while eating some "OK" food, this is your...
