Great hike!

Amazing view from above, especially in clear day! The hike take around 45m to 1 hour, or more depending on your fitness level.

Went here a couple of times through different routes. First we tried the one from Sirsi terrace, quite a hike with many steep hills. Then we tried from Khandallah Pool, mostly stairs and around 45 minutes all hike up. Then we got down taking Simla Crescent route, coming out at Khandallah Pool again, where we parked our cars.

Make sure you wear proper shoes, bring jacket as the wind on top of the hill can be strong. Walking stick will help. Bring food and drinks and no toilet above.

Will definitely come back to...

Our favourite place to walk with the family. Our young 4 kids always enjoyed this walk up to Mt Kaukau as we lived in Meadowcroft Grove. We always had to have a picnic halfway due to our 3 year old at the time. We now live in Australia since 2020 and we are always homesick looking back at our family photos at the top with the amazing panoramic view of our beautiful Lower North Island. So peaceful and breathtaking, it's worth the hike and carrying your child...

Had an amazing walk through the outskirts of the northern suburbs of Wellington. The Skyline Walkway runs along the ridge of Mount Kaukau and can be accessed from various points like Johnsonville, Khandallah, and Karori. On a clear weekend, you can take on a longer stretch of the trail, either starting from Johnsonville and heading to Makara Saddle in Karori or going...

Truly worth the climb, be sure to go beyond the lookout to the true peak though! (behind the building keep heading towards the sea) Update: if its a northerly it'll be colder than you expect and in winter slippery on the grass and smooth rock. I'd recommend hiking or trail running shoes in winter. Source: me slipping over twice 😂
