Walk up through the bush and admire the view over Wellington from Mt Kaukau. Walk across to Clarke Street and enjoy a peaceful stroll through the bush there. Small kids will have fun in the little playground (don't forget the swings by the path into the bush!) or playing in the stream. There is a nice cafe with outdoor seating, and in summer the very popular, unheated, pool is open. Croquet and lawn bowl clubs also on Woodmancote Road. Quite good on a Sunny day.

I love soaking up the atmosphere in this piece of nature... After that I'm more creative in my work... Do you have one hour and a half and feel like hiking? That's a good idea!

Simply awesome. Having a beautiful forested mountain in your back garden to walk through is just fantastic. But be warned....it's quite a walk and a lot of steps in place

We went on a cold day June in the afternoon, and it was incredibly cold here. It is in the shadow of Mt Kaukau (pronounced Cocoa). I'd suggest adding an extra layer and grabbing a hot drink from the Cafe before coming up the hill to keep your hands warm. The playground is fantastic though with swings, a climbing area, flying fox, and a really cool slide. The playground is right next to a stream. There is a toilet block next to the carpark. In the summer months the open-air Khandallah...

Came here as a child, and bring my kids here from time to time too. I miss the big old train engine. The kids like the selection of modern playground equipment. Had a nice stroll half way up the track towards Mt Kaukau and found a native gecko hanging around just to the side of it. Beautiful wee thing, which we placed further off the track so that none of the many other friendly track walkers would step on it. Found a couple of "crawlies" in the creek too, just like...

I recently had a trip down memory lane by visiting Khandallah Park. We used to go there as children but much has changed since then. There is a children's play area, picnic spot & the seasonal pool. Khandallah Park is the gateway to the many different routes / tracks up to Mt Kaukau. I just wondered along the flat part of the track with my dog on a lead & enjoyed the peace of the bush & the sound of the water running in a stream beside the walk way. It is...
