We went on a cold day June in the afternoon, and it was incredibly cold here. It is in the shadow of Mt Kaukau (pronounced Cocoa). I'd suggest adding an extra layer and grabbing a hot drink from the Cafe before coming up the hill to keep your hands warm. Had a nice stroll half way up the track towards Mt Kaukau and found a native gecko hanging around just to the side of it. There is a children's play area, picnic spot & the seasonal pool. Khandallah Park is the gateway to the many different routes / tracks up to Mt Kaukau.
