Oman Air Lounge — Local services in Muscat

The Oman Air Business Lounge at Muscat Airport was very impressive with its spacious layout and luxurious amenities. While most aspects of the lounge are excellent, my experience at their restaurant-style dining area was deeply disappointing due to what appeared to be discriminatory service.

Despite being seated for over 5 minutes and repeatedly trying to get attention, including raising my hand towards a group of servers, I was completely ignored. What made this particularly concerning was watching new Arab guests who arrived after me receive immediate service - both a single diner seated at the table right in front of me and an elderly couple beside me were attended to within seconds of sitting down. As someone of Chinese Asian descent, I eventually had to walk to the front and directly approach the waitstaff to place my order.

This type of discriminatory treatment is unacceptable in any setting, but especially so in an international business class lounge where all passengers deserve equal respect and attention.

However, it's worth noting that my experience at other areas of the lounge, particularly with the bar staff, was excellent. The lounge itself offers outstanding amenities and comfort - it's just unfortunate that the dining service failed to maintain the same professional standards.

This was my first time at the Oman Air Lounge. It is located the n the 5th floor of the new Oman Airport. When you enter they ask you for you it boarding pass to make sure your in the right place. When you enter the lounge you enter a small sitting area for individuals and then a separate are for families. They also have a play area for kids. After that comes the Restaurant. Beautiful setup. They have a great variety of dishes from various parts of the world. They also have 2 Nespresso machines. I wasn't able to figure out how to use them so their staff helped me out with it. I was surprised to see they actually had decaf and light coffee for casual coffee drinkers. They also have some fresh juices and Detox water to hydrate yourself. After the restaurant comes the bar. They had a good variety of drinks. A beautiful sitting area for you to relax and sip. Each couch has a USB port so you can charge your mobile. My favourite area was the nap area. There are nice leather lounge chairs for you to rest on. The most amazing thing is the fact it's got curtains around it so you can have you privacy. This Oman Fist Class lounge is easily the best I have ever visited. From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly courteous and attentive. After a redeye flight from Muscat, I had a long layover before my onward flight to London, so I asked if there was a place where I could catch up on some sleep. The staff offered to place me in one of the spacious nap rooms as the Aerotel was fully booked.

Upon waking up from my nap, I had several hours to kill before my flight. The host at the lounge introduced me to the chef, who graciously made me a custom breakfast meal. I was also offered a complimentary 15-minute spa treatment, which was a welcome treat.
