Kalasha Dur Museum, also known as Bumburet Museum, is a museum located in Bumburet area of Kalash Valley Chitral with a beautiful view of the valley. also known as the Kalasha dur (House of the Kalasha People or Cultural Centre for the Kalasha) The Beautiful two floors building has a wide lawn in the front and it is constructed with stones and wood 🪵. The ground floor has the cultural collection of the Kalasha and the first floor is used as a school 🏫 for locals with a library of books written on the valley, and also a hall for professional training of local crafts. a number of objects are on the display depicting history, culture, tradition, cuisine, dressing and way of life of Kalasha people. The collection has traditional utensils, indigenous dresses, jewelry, musical instruments, furniture, pictorial depiction, weapons etc.… a traditional flour grinder (which functioned with flowing water) is on display in the lawn. Mr. Jan Muhammad, a local guide, takes one through the exquisitely detailed window displays while describing how each item of clothing/pottery/weaponry etc. relates to the belief systems and communal lifestyle of the Kalash. Be sure to request his account of the local dances and how they relate to the Kalash calender. The artifacts are well-preserved and one can happily pass an hour going through the displays.
