Colón 2000 Mall — Local services in Barrio Sur

This mall was an okay place to spend time after our tour, we had to spend many hours here before boarding our boat. The grocery store is pretty good. There are a few restaurants, a number of shops, a small beauty salon, and other similar little stores. It's clean and bright.

The mall is also close to the large duty free complex, however, we never walked over because the walk was a little intimidating.

We felt pretty safe but didn't really enjoy our time here. I preferred other ports and I enjoyed the tour part of our day...

This place was great to visit. The prices in the grocery were very affordable. Outside of this mall area was pretty desolate and in ill repair in most spots. Then on the other side of the same street a beautiful new building. Such contrast in wealth and poverty. The people we met were very friendly and helpful. We came from Gatun Lake on a bus tour to Colon and saw many places along the way. Most people are just trying to make a living. The police were very much visible with their large automatic weapons. But also...

Kinda of like an American strip mall. Shop here for your Panama Canal souvenirs and the grocery store is a god send. When you get off your cruise ship you go through the duty free shop. Take a look at what they have but before you buy, go here first. You'll save a ton of money and if they don't have what you want then you can get it at the duty free shop on your way back...
