Isla San Blas — Local services in Guna Yala

Well, the scenery is amazing of course. Islands like paradise. But in my opinion the Kunas should take care a bit more that the island doesn’t become a party island. And should care more for ecology as lot of trash is lying all over the island. Of course: also tourists cause this fact, but if one starts and trash is not being removed, then others follow... In our stay I didn’t like the fact that we got the same dish within our 3 meals we had... not too bad, but I’m sure they could bring a bit more variety in it with goods that Mother Nature provides them. Housing (dorm) was better than expected. Service and staff friendly...

Very disappointed. I had not been to San Blas in over 10 years. This place has changed a lot. Way too many people go there now. The Kunas have done a very poor job of keeping the islands sort of virgin. Lots of trash, very little fish in the waters when snorkeling. Star fish are gone. What a shame. It seems they’re more interested in making some $$$ now days that keeping the place clean. The way they’re going there’s not gonna be any $$$ coming their way cause truism will be gone. Bin zwiegespalten. Die Schönheit der San Blas Inseln steht nicht zur Diskussion & macht sie zu einem Ziel für einen großen Teil der Touristen hier.. verständlicherweise. Uns wurde diese Organisation Ogob Nega vom B&B in Panama City empfohlen. Die Isla Chichime gehört zu den größeren touristisch genutzten Inseln und beherbergt leider vor den einfachen Hütten unzählige geankerte Katamarane und Segelboote, welche nachts auf der Insel Party machen, der Lärm war unerträglich, aber viel schlimmer war, dass ich morgens deren Müll -Hinterlassenschaften entdeckt hatte...und die Klos sahen aus ..ohne Worte.. Diese Respektlosigkeit macht einen wütend. Das ist natürlich Schuld der Touristen. Es liegt aber auch daran, dass die Guna Yala mit ihren Inseln primär nur Geld verdienen wollen,und Nachhaltigkeit ist ihnen ein Fremdwort, sie lassen viel mehr Leute auf die Insel als sie verträgt....manchmal wäre weniger mehr. Das Müll Problem auf der Insel ist echt widerlich. Andere Inseln haben das besser im Griff. Ich würde sicher nicht diese Organisation empfehlen. Das Essen war gerade noch OK. Die Hütte ist primitiv aber mehr erwartete ich nicht. Ist auch völlig okay, nur die Sanitär Anlage völlig...
