Five stars for the experience of petting, interacting and feeding the llamas, alpacas and guanacos. They also have vicuñas and the Andean condors for viewing. This was a free experience.
Otherwise, run for the hills when it comes to the store, which I would give zero stars. We were told by our driver prior to the experience that this was a great place to buy products and the prices were reasonable. In fact, it was the opposite. Just to give you an idea, a pair of socks is 250 soles ($67 USD)!
It is a tourist trap with overpriced products that is marketed as "giving back to the community" but there are plenty of other places to buy from for better quality, fraction of the cost and actually giving it directly to the people who make it.
Our experience was: being followed constantly, asked to try different things, no prices mentioned on any products and being told "we would get a good discount at the end." There is room for bargaining, but be warned of the staff muttering things under their breath about the customer (in-spite of us being fluent in Spanish).
After all this, we realized two things 1.) a product we bought had a tear and we realized only when we got back to the hotel and 2.) given the circumstances, we think the driver received a kickback because he was wearing a brand new sweater that we subsidized.
Just look at some of the other reviews and our experience in the store...
Read moreAbsolutely loved my visit to Manos de la Comunidad in Cusco, Peru! 😁 This place is a gem for animal lovers and those looking to connect with nature. The alpacas were the highlight of my trip they are so cute and friendly. You can feed them, touch them, and even take some adorable photos with these fluffy creatures.
Another fantastic part of the experience was seeing the couple of Condors that have been rescued since January 2023. 🦅 It was incredible to learn about their stories and see these magnificent birds up close. The staff here is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about animal welfare, making the visit even more enriching.
The location itself is beautiful, nestled in the scenic landscape of Cusco. 🌄 The facilities are well-maintained, and there are plenty of informative signs to help you learn more about the animals and their care. It's a perfect place for families, couples, and solo travelers alike.
Overall, Manos de la Comunidad offers a unique and heartwarming experience. If you're in Cusco, don't miss out on this wonderful opportunity to interact with some amazing animals and support a great cause. 🥰 Highly recommend it to anyone...
Read moreI expected to see a local community of weavers. Instead it looked like a fancy store. The tour with the animals was nice. They have lots of animals and You get to feed them too. There were weavers "weaving" there but it kinda looked like these humans were being displayed. Didn't feel authentic. And at the end you'll be at their store with very expensive stuff. The lowest i could find was 40 soles for a pair of socks. They'll hover around you to implicitly guilt trip youninto buying. I almost did but i just couldnt find the price worth it. So i just left. Wish there was just a donation box for the animal tour.
I dont know if their products are overpriced OR others with lower price tags ive seen were fake. I cant tell anyway. The cloth feels good so idk haha. For reference i bought an alpaca scarf for 85 soles and another for 40 soles at other places. The 85 one felt more fine. Both are adult alpaca. Some baby alpaca clothing arent always super soft.. They say it also depends on the weaving technique and thickness. I guess as long as...
