We booked two tours with winay. Sacred valley with ATV and Vinicunca. First one was great. Pick up was just slightly late which is normal. We were satisfied with our guide patiently showing us the best of sacred valley and experience ATV quad bike.
Next Vinicunca trip was a disaster. Pick up was meant to be at 4:20am at our hotel at Cusco main square and we left hotel in the cold temperature 3 Celsius waiting for ONE HOUR. No communication. Finally got picked up. Bus goes around Cusco to pick up more people and at 6am we got back to main square again looking for someone. Everyone on the bus was obviously furious. Two tourists even left the bus saying they can’t continue with this anymore. After two hours later we finally hit the road to Vinicunca.
Our tour guide was actually friendly and nice and trying hard to make our trip pleasant. But he didn’t want to explain what happened in the morning. And tour company itself informed us after some time that either original tour guide or driver is sick that’s why the whole pick up procedure is a mess.
I don’t want to just moan and not bring the suggestion. The problem is the communication. We have a WhatsApp message about when to pick up in our hotel. We tried to call the number many times but no response. We got no messages telling us the change of pick up time. It’s not nice when we have to stand in the cold temperature.
Also door to door service is a great intention. But it can be annoying when there are more than 5 sets of people to pick up and wasting 1 hour on the journey. I would prefer the tour company set a meeting point for example main square. And charge extra for pick up...
Read moreI did the five days Salkantay Trek with the agency wiñay peru adventure in Dec. 2019: they tell you pretty exactly about the tour, every day's route, the extra costs and you get a briefing before departure; good organization mostly, knowledgeable and funny young guide, group size of 11 people was ok. The trek itself May be difficult for some people, but the guide motivated us and everybody could hike or walk at his pace. The food was good, they take into Account vegetarian, vegan nutrition or intolerances to ingredients. They didn't provide enough water though during meals. the camping or sleeping sites are okay, the sleeping bag and extra blanket provided by the agency were very good. The last day at Machu Picchu was amazing and we were lucky with the weather. it is a lot of walking in general... the guide at machu picchu was not that good, if you choose to walk to other parts of the site rather than going directly to the ruins town, you won't get a tour -- but if you go with the guide, then you can't see the other parts, bc it is forbidden to walk back if you have entered the ruins town. The downside of the Trip was at the last day: the agency messed up the pick-up of me and another couple to go back to Cusco. they forgot us and finally I went with a bus that was not supposed to take me back...after Phone calls and being very insisting. The whole situation with passengers and buses at Hidroelectrica seemed chaotic and not well organized in general, not only from wiñay peru adventure. Nevertheless, the trekking and Tour are recommendable! the price and service provided of wiñay were...
Read moreDid a Machu Picchu 2 day/1 night by car and it was a very disorganized experience. Got picked up from my hostel fine, then driven to the Hidro Electric station where I walked to Aguas Calientes only to realize I didn't know which Hostel to go to, or where to meet. After asking some other tourists, I figured out that the spot to meet was the main square, where they should call my name. Waited there 45 minutes to later realize they didn't have my name on the list. I messaged the guy I had on what's app from the tour (thank God I had his number) then I found out which hostel I was in. They also won't use student discounts unless your card is in the year of expiry, and claim that is the standard when everywhere and everyone will tell you that's not true (for obvious logical reasons). So arriving in my hotel I still didn't know my guide or anything about Machu Picchu the next day so I talked to the receptionist who helped me contact them and figure everything out. Without her I would've had no tour the next day and been left behind. Overall, I wouldn't at all recommend this company as they don't even answer their phone (which even surprised guides who tried to help me). They will undoubtedly respond to this blaming it on me, but as any self-respecting individual would notice; that's not the way to handle a company. They don't learn from mistakes, they blame it on the customer. If I'd done a simple Google search I wouldn't have gone with this company. You've done that Google search, don't make that...
