Our family of 5 booked an hour of horseback riding within a week of traveling to Portugal. Sarah made it super easy and family friendly for us to book, and ride. It was a nice and easy walking tour, and the horses were gentle and easily ridden. She lead with the kids - and it was super fun to see the kids on horses rather than ponies. Very reasonable prices; compared to the U.S it was really inexpensive. Upon reading other reviews, I'd like to note that region really doesn't make for a ride for advanced riders, the trails are not groomed specifically for horses - they are going up and down hills with rocks and sand. They also were great about talking with the riders to determine their riding and comfort levels. We were even there when she took a call inquiring about booking and was clear in her explanation of the ride, what to expect and where/when might be possible if they are looking for a tour with a gallop. That being said, We were very happy to have gotten to...
Read moreMy wife and two daughters (who are experienced riders) went for the sunset walk, youngest daughter ended up in hospital by ambulance with a badly injured back! Her horse took off and she was thrown off to the pavement out of sight of the group, My eldest daughters horse was spooked and took off luckly she managed to graple the horses neck and swing off the horse, my wifes horse reared luckily she is an experienced rider and managed to control the horse. The horses were not happy before even going on the walk, i showed my concern to be told they will be fine by a woman at the riding centre, No proper first aid kit (a toolbox with some red ointment) was all that was offered, ruined our holiday. Horses are definitely tired and overworked, A refund and some compensation was given to my daughter after some days the manager was informed by staff, this does not undo the injury or mental trauma they had to endure. Make your own minds up, we definitely...
Read moreA lovely stables run by nice people with stunning horses. I did two rides here, a morning and sunset ride. Both were great rides.
The morning ride was just myself and my partner who have been riding some years, along with our guide Alex. Alex was very kind and great at observing both the riders and the horses. We got to walk, trot, and canter around the surrounding areas of the stables. Horses were very well mannered and super comfy. Very nice views too.
During the sunset ride, we were paired with beginners for the trek. Along the way we would split from the beginner group (there were two guides), do some trots/canters and re-join the group. If you didn't feel comfortable trotting or cantering at certain points during the ride, the guys had no problem accommodating.
We got photos after the rides with us on our horses. All around, fun times, with great horses (I was on India & Mojito)....
