Cabo Carvoeiro — Local services in Peniche

The views are spectacular! The waves crashing on the rocks are just phenomenal. You can hop in a car an drive around the area until you get to the lighthouse and walk some more by the rocks but be careful as you may fall this is not a closed off area. There's some unofficial parking, and there's always lots of people around taking photos of the magnificent sightings. As you drive around you will see some crosses on the way from people that have died, so please be careful if walking, biking or driving and not paying attention to the road, there's lots of curves and it's a very distracting view of the ocean. There's some chapels along the way, since it's Portugal there's always a chapel or a church nearby... And as always just beautifully crafted and meaningful to the area. This is a great place to visit, to have a nice picnic, have some inspiration, meditate (if that's your thing) and take lots of pictures of nature. O Cabo Carvoeiro é um cabo que se situa no extremo da Península de Peniche, sobre o Oceano Atlântico, no concelho de Peniche, região do Centro de Portugal. É um local de grande valor patrimonial (geológico e paisagístico), com grande variedade de falésias calcárias fortemente erodidas e campos de lapiás.

É o cabo mais ocidental da costa continental portuguesa a norte do Cabo da Roca. A oeste pode avistar-se o pequeno arquipélago das Berlengas, integrado numa reserva natural terrestre e marinha.

Neste local foi erguido o Farol do Cabo Carvoeiro, de 25 m de altura, devido aos inúmeros naufrágios ocorridos nesse trecho do litoral.

A pequena Capela de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, cerca do cabo, é o destino de uma concorrida romaria. Tem o interior revestido por valiosos azulejos do século XVIII, da oficina do mestre António de Oliveira Bernardes.
