Came here on the gastronomic festivity of the same name. Given it doubles as a religious ceremony, we arrived just as mass was undergoing so it was a bit head to get in but nothing irregular when festivities occur here. Food was served by the various sports and religious associations, restaurant/tapas style, and since it was still mass it still took around 150-30 minutes to get the food ready to serve which is very much understandable. Weather was also pretty mild lower them the usual 38ish°C (26°C at noon) and made it a rather enjoyable time.

All in all festivities make this otherwise calm nature reserve a small hustle and bustle of mostly old people and booze one can easily get in if you know any of them, otherwise you're mostly here for the food at lunch and dinner and or some artist you like or association you support, otherwise you're not...

The area is beautiful, you don't have much options in the Cafe, for such a nice and natural location they can provide more things, also outside there is not enough tables and chairs and most of the time there are not organized, we wanted to take a picture of ourselves inside and the lady came and said it is not possible because here is kinda museum😐 I couldn't accept it because even in the most famous museum in the world you can take a picture unless you don't harm anything. I don't recommend it unless you want to go and enjoy the...

Very (very) unpleasant welcome. We tried to get some information about birds and bird watching here but a very rude woman was repeating that we have to rent a boat to go more into the water to see birds. We also tried to ask some questions about other parts of the Reserve but have only been told to rent a boat. There’s no bird here. Strange behavior for a so called Reseve. Why was built an observatory there if there’s nothing to...

Visitei há anos quando da recuperação do local ( e na altura não publiquei). Hoje em boa hora decidi revisitar o local. Para além de podermos descobrir o engenho da maré, aproveitamos as linhas paisagens

Birdwatching paradise in the Sado River estuary. When the tide goes out the wetlands become muddy with trapped fish that the birds feast on. The highlight is the wild flamingos. The Milho de maré is preserved skewing how they used the riding tide streets to turn the grist mill to grind grain. Nice coffeehouse.
