Cetăţile Ponorului — Local services in Pietroasa

Beautiful cave but man... The descriptions did not prepare us for how dangerous the path was going to be. There are two sections with very high slope and even in clear weather (it hadnt rained for days) most sections were VERY slippery. We saw some older people coming down the path and they were literally struggling to hold on to their lives (we praying for them...). They could have taken some very bad falls and the few chains are mostly there for the show. Thrilling? Certainly! Safe? Not so much Best to keep your eyes open in any case.

The cave itself is really impressing and worth the look. There are signs everywhere saying tourists are not allowed in because of the danger. However, we saw a group of romanians go in (with lamps and spare clothes!) and out the other side. It is for sure not a good idea to enter without proper equipment and a guide, and impossible to cross it without getting all wet.

In short, it was worth the thrill but we would have liked to know beforehand about the state...

This trail was an absolute joy to hike! I’d say it’s of medium difficulty—not too easy, but not too hard either—perfect for anyone looking for a bit of a challenge without being overwhelming. Some portions are equipped with chains, which makes the climb both safer and more exciting.

The circuit can be done either way, and the views from the top are simply breathtaking. Romania is truly beautiful, and its mountains offer such a unique and unforgettable experience. Highly recommend this trail for nature lovers and hiking...

Cu o faună bogată,dar incomplet studiată, acest complex carstic are o lungime de 1500 m și a fost menționat de Nagy Sandor (1886). Este situat la o altitudine de 950 m și are o adâncime de 301 m. Se poate ajunge pe la Padiș (pe drumul marcat cu albastru) și din centrul stațiunii turistice Arieșeni , urmând drumul comunal până la satul Cobles și, de acolo, marcajul cu roșu. Traseul este de la mediu spre dificil, necesită echipament și ne-am folosit și de lanțurile - suport. Am explorat peștera la suprafață și, puțin, la intrare. Oricum, galeria activă nu poate fi explorată decât de speologi...
