I would give this 2.5 stars if possible, because half of the course is good and half is pretty ... bad. The front 9 are along the road/in the backyard of local houses/in industrial areas. The greens are fine for the most part, but the cart path is bumpy and at some points unpaved. The branches from the trees hang into the cart path so you will get whipped in the face while driving. The views from the front 9 are basically non-existent, so if you only play 9 play the back nine! Don’t be deceived by the pictures. There were some local people walking the course, so be careful to not hit anyone with a rogue ball.. Additionally, I would not take valuables here.
Be wary of bugs and sand-spurs as we had a few bites and spurs stick to our shoes for going in the taller grass.
The good: the back nine have great views along the ocean. The course was not busy and we did not have to wait except for one hole in the beginning. The staff is nice and you get a water with an ice cooler on your cart.
The bad: Ladies rental clubs were not in great shape, but the mens that we played with were fine. The non-golfers (coconut harvesters, lawn care/maintenance, golf ball salesmen) are a bit distracting. The front 9 are standard public course - nothing great and could definitely skip as they have no water views. 1 round for 2 people with rental clubs was $400-$500. We brought our own balls. If we could do it over again, we would have adventured to Nevis (we stayed at the Park Hyatt not Marriott) to play at the...
Read moreI recently played at Royal St. Kitts Golf Club during a December visit on a cruise. While the location is absolutely beautiful, the course itself was disappointing for the $200 price tag.
The grass was not mowed properly, and it was extremely difficult to find balls even when they were just slightly off the fairway—or sometimes even on the fairway. This made the experience frustrating, as I lost a lot of balls that were not even out of bounds. The greens were rough on many holes, and the overall course maintenance left a lot to be desired.
The rental clubs were in bad shape, which didn’t help the experience. Adding to that, there were no cart girls for refreshments, and when we stopped at the turn, the 'bar' was unattended, and we had to wait forever for someone to serve us. This wasn’t during a low season for the area, so I was surprised by how empty the course was and the lack of staff. I assume the lack of players and upkeep reflects deeper financial struggles, which is unfortunate given the potential of the location.
All in all, I did enjoy the round because the setting was so beautiful, but it was not worth $200. For what we got, I’d say $100 would have been more reasonable. I hope the course gets the investment it needs because with better maintenance and staffing, it could be a fantastic place to play. Right now, it feels like a missed...
Read moreEveryone at the golf course is super nice, and the Marriott was nice to drive me over from the resort on a golf cart.
Overall, the layout and visual aesthetic of the golf course are incredible. I have played a lot of golf in my life and appreciate the design and challenge of this course and facility. The views of the ocean, mountains, and homes are awesome.
Certainly, the course has seen better days. It needs quite a bit of money but you can tell they are doing the best they can to keep it maintained as best as possible. I agree with other reviews that the high rough (it’s actually just completely overgrown) can be frustrating as it’s easy to lose balls. The greens are slow, but true and in decent shape all things considered. For $165 id say it’s a bit high for the overall experience given the current condition of the club, but I’d like to see this course generate as much $ and turn the conditions around. It has potential to be one of the best golf courses in the world in my opinion. Would recommend playing but keep your expectations low as for course conditions and just try to enjoy the surroundings and keep the ball in...
