It's Sunday afternoon, the queues are long and nothing moves (both normal check-out and self-check-out), while another cashier is just standing there, observing the world at large, instead of simply opening another check-out counter. It boggles the mind. I really only come here if I have to. Negative points in a nutshell: Most items overpriced. Staff inefficient and discourteous Considering that Cold Storage delineates its vision on its corporate website as "Pioneer in premium supermarket" (their words, not mine), it is remarkable that they still hand out PLASTIC BAGS as if it still didn't matter in our age of plastic pollution and climate change. Ok, other supermarkets do that too, but they don't market themselves as a PREMIUM supermarket (yes, yes. Plastic bags are extremely premium and save the environment, right?! Sarcasm mode). Here is an idea: Slightly lower your prices, and start charging for plastic bags to bring about a change in mindset in your customers (yes, it is ok to bring your own backpack or tote bags) OR even better, get rid of plastic bags altogether and if customers don't bring their own bags, charge them for paper bags. As a matter of fact, let me raise the ante here: Should a manager of Cold Storage by any chance read this review, please gladly get in touch with me. I will happily change my review from 1-star to 5-stars immediately, if Cold Storage pledges to remove plastic bags from their stores by the end of 2020 (despite the other negative points I...
Read moreI live near this CS store so I visit it from time to time. I find that the cashiers (Chinese & Malay alike) are always friendly and pleasant. This evening at around 6 pm I bought a loaf of sourdough rye bread from Cluny Court CS in a hurry without checking as I happened to be in that area. It was on reduced to clear (the sticker stated it was packed today and good for another 2 days) but it didn't bother me as I had bought a sourdough loaf fr GWC CS 1-2 weeks ago and it was excellent. Besides, it was the only rye loaf available so I grabbed it without examining it.
When I reached home close to 9 pm, I wanted to slice the loaf and store into my chiller.... but to my horror, I discovered some spots of mould on the loaf! I hadn't even unwrapped it at all. I tried calling Cluny Court CS but the line was never answered. I decided to drop by the CS at Star Vista and check with the store manager if I can get a refund or exchange at their outlet intead of driving all the way back to Cluny Court CS. The male store manager appeared stern but turned out to be a compassionate man actually. He immediately agreed to do a refund promptly on the spot for me. The female cashiers also assisted to process the refund. It was only a small amount but it was the service excellence, the thoughtfulness/ helpfulness of the staff and the empowerment given to the store manager by CS that warmed me. It gives me more reason & confidence to shop at CS :) Thank you to the manager and staff at...
Read moreOrdered the 4 toppings no protein option. The person attending, an adult not the senior citizen that normally attend the stall, missed out on two. So I paid 7.90 for a salad that comprised ONLY kale, carrots and beetroot. He completely missed out the ticked boxes on the right side of the form. Cold Storage management please look into this to prevent further customer victimization. It is obviously too hot for me to go all the way back to exchange
Person attending the salad bar around 145pm, today. This is ridiculous carelessness. No wonder the person asked if I wanted a protein. It should be obvious because I ticked the 4 toppings no protein option at the top of the form. I also ticked 2 toppings on the left side of the form and 2 on the right. The negligent person completely omitted the 2 selections / ticked box on the right...
