I stayed at Citadines Connect Rochester for a period of almost three months. I would describe the stay as overall pleasant, however, there have been multiple issues throughout it that I'd like to share.
Starting off with the room, I stayed at the Premier room on the 7th floor. The space is utilized incredibly well, however the ventilation and lack of air flow made it, at times, almost unlivable for me. The lack of windows and an odor coming from the bathroom (shower) had me lose sleep and avoid my room more often than not, especially nearing the end of my stay. Staff was contacted on the issue and while they really tried to help (both engineers and cleaning staff), the smell stayed persistent. Cooking was also very useful in theory - but any sort of food smell would fill up the room for hours due to bad ventilation. Otherwise, the room was spacious and comfortable.
Secondly, I have a few comments on the services and staff. While everyone has been friendly and helpful, I have been disturbed with phone calls to an alarming degree. These calls were mainly regarding room cleaning - though I was very clear on having my room cleaned every other day, and whenever the room was on do not disturb, to not go in. This wasn't respected and I was called over and over to confirm room cleaning. Further I have gotten calls at unsolicited hours of the night, one example being a call at 10PM regarding a gift being sent to my room for Women's Day. Unfortunately, room cleaning was also not properly done at times. More than once my sheets were not changed, or changed with new stained sheets.
Another third occurrence I'd like to share is being charged for a towel. Apparently the towel had an unremovable stain and I was charged for it as cleaning staff could not get the stain off. The stain was from a soda drink, which I believe is quite easily washable. Whatever the case may be, I think charging someone who is living in the hotel for such a long-term period for a towel feels ridiculous. The charge was very low cost, but it left a bad impression on me.
There were good things, of course - the pool was great, the breakfast itself and breakfast staff were incredibly kind, location is convenient (close to public transport and Star Vista mall), reception girls were always really kind and tried to be helpful.
However, I'd unfortunately not stay there again, the biggest reason being the lack of air flow and the odor of my room. Perhaps if this was a shorter stay, my opinion would be...
Read moreI have been living in a room with a washing machine at this hotel. Over two separate stays, I have spent a total of more than 50 days here, making this the longest period I have ever stayed in a hotel, even longer than during quarantine.
I really enjoy my stay for several reasons: Location: The hotel is a 5-minute walk from Bruno Vista MRT and Star Vista, which offers a variety of nice restaurants. Bruno Vista MRT serves both the Circle Line (yellow) and the East-West Line (green), providing extremely convenient connections to wherever you need to go. This accessibility makes it easy to explore the city or commute for business. Hospitality: John and Dori are the best! I often meet them in the dining area during breakfast. They always make sure to customize my meals since I am a pescatarian. Even when I oversleep and arrive a little late, they still let me in to eat quickly. Their kindness makes an expat like me feel at home at Citadines Connect. Service: All the staff here are friendly, and seeing their smiles brightens my day. I once lost a broken resistance band in the gym and didn't realize it for a week. They kept it for me, and when I inquired at the reception late at night, the receptionist immediately contacted a staff member who returned it to me in the gym within minutes.
Facilities: I visit the gym almost every day. It's spacious enough for yoga and using the dumbbells. I often do yoga next to the swimming pool, where I usually have the space to myself without interruptions. There is also a massage chair on the second floor; while it may not be the best, it is still a good option for relaxing.
Suggestions: I prefer not to use the air conditioner, which automatically turns on every time I enter the room, so I have to turn it off several times a day. The TV connection is unstable, which can be frustrating on the rare occasions I choose...

My sister left the charger in the room and they found it. When I was there to pick up, I called up in advance for an assistance on someone to come down to the drop off area to pass it to me. Despite explaining that my vehicle is facing some issue that I could not switch off the engine, the hotel staff explained that they are short of staff and they have no one that can leave the front desk. Replied Salini xaninitamarasan.
I stopped my vehicle on the drop off and take the elevator to level 2 lobby. To my surprise there is a suite up staff by the name Lxxx while salini is in the sustainable uniform . So clearly there are enough resource.
I repeatedly ask and mention about the Ascott brand Hallmark and Customer centric focus of this hotel and they say sorry we can’t extend this extra miles by moving an inch.
This is really an eye opening experience for me. Where high goals on sustainable focus hotel is now investing heavily on hardware and almost eliminate customer service. Or maybe it’s just this hotel or this hotel’s brand value.
So if you want a good “hardware” hotel , no frill , no customer service , then this is the spot on choice. Ask for anything more than that, good luck 🙏。
