The second time I came for lunch, I bought the same cut and requested for medium rare. This time it came out well done, dry and salty. This time it was a different person (not same Chinese guy as my first visit). I gave the benefit of the doubt, thinking perhaps I wasn’t specific enough with my request.
Today, I came for lunch for the third time and bought the same cut for $26. I specifically asked (the same guy as my second visit) for medium rare, repeated it several times and reminded him it was dry the last time. Once again it came out medium to well done and was dry. I paid $26 for a good cut of steak, but the person who cooked it for an additional charges has just ruined a good $26 cut.

It's an NTUC Finest with a bar and diner-like corner where a rowdy bunch of degenerates gather over the weekends. I tried out the ambiance for the hell of it at a wine-tasting event but I'm not gonna mince my words, there's a reason it's cheap.... It also feels and tastes cheap. But hey, it's clearly unpretentious and I'm sure that appeals to the ones who return.
Ambiance aside, the actual supermarket doesn't go beyond offering the basics probably because of space limitations. It's relatively small. On the upside, I got to taste-test a bubbly and a dry Rosé which I would never have bothered with ordinarily. The Promoter on duty was professional, chirpy and eloquent. Colour me surprised.
So there, drop by for an emergency supermarket run but it's certainly not a pub crawl spot for any self-respecting cocktail...
